Detection and identification of asbestos by microscopical dispersion staining

چکیده

Asbestos fibers as small as 1 mum in diameter can be uniquely identified by light microscopy by employing dispersion staining methods. The technique described herein involves suspension of fibers in liquids of known refractive indices and observation of color display by means of a dispersion staining objective. Wavelengths or indices of refraction may be determined at right angles to and parallel to fiber axes. This method is rapid and sensitive for identification purposes.

Electron microscopical investigation of asbestos fibers

Examination of asbestos fibers by electron microscopical techniques enables the observer to distinguish among the fiber types by morphological and structural characteristics. Chrysotile asbestos fibers are composed of bundles of fibrils. Fibers are often curvilinear with splayed ends. Individual fibrils consist of a central capillary defined by an electron dense crystalline wall. With increasin...

Asbestos-related Lung Diseases: A Brief Update

Health risks from asbestos exposures have been evaluated, considering past professional histories when exposures at workplaces were higher than today. A linear no-threshold (LNT) model has been applied, although its relevance is unproven. Fibers are often found in the lungs and pleura of deceased people. Fiber findings do not prove that a disease is caused by asbestos. It is reasonable to assum...

مطالعه غلظت و نوع الیاف آزبست با روش میکروسکوپی فاز کنتراست و الکترونی روبشی به منظور تعیین مواجهه شغلی در یک صنعت سیمان- آزبست

Background and aims : Asbestos minerals are divided into two main groups including serpentine and amphiboles and each has one or more subgroups. These minerals have been used in industrial products such as cement-asbestos sheet and pipe, brake shoe, clutch and insulation materials. Occupational and non - occupational exposures by this carcinogenic material have caused to develop several metho...

Automatic Counting Robot Development Supporting Qualitative Asbestos Analysis -Asbestos, Air Bubbles, and Particles Classification Using Machine Learning-

Asbestos, particle, and air bubble counting generally supports qualitative asbestos analysis, using such procedures as dispersion staining. Operators conventionally check and count asbestos fibers visually using a microscope – a difficult, time-consuming process. The microscopic observation robot we are automating to support qualitative asbestos analysis images fibers and saves them automatical...

Identification of Intestinal Microsporidia by Trichrome Staining and Calcofluor White Methods among Kidney- Transplanted Patients in Hamadan

Abstract Background and Objective: Microsporidia is an obligatory intracellular parasite known as an opportunistic infection in immunocompromised patients. Its laboratory diagnosis is relatively difficult and modified trichrome staining is a standard diagnostic method for detection of Microsporidia. The aim of present study was to identify intestinal Microsporidia in kidney- transplanted pat...
